Sunday Vanity: Chase your dreams
Before I begin with this week's SUNDAY VANITY, i would like to apologise for the lack of posts in the past week, I mean the last post is a Sunday Vanity post, which means I haven't posted all week and I feel really bad about it and feel like I own an explanation. I'm not sure if I have a good one but it was the first week since my classes started again so things were a bit hectic because of that and I literally spent the weekend at home in my sweatpants watching series and anime. I'm just the life of the party, huh? But I promise this week I will make up for the lack of posts, and hopefully that will be good enough for you.
And now to the good part — this week's Sunday Vanity will be all about DREAMS. We do all have our little dreams, right? Although perhaps they are not just some dreams anymore, perhaps they are now goals that we are working very hard to achieve. But still I feel like they were just dreams at one point, perhaps some are still baby dreams just waiting to be nourished and grow into achievable goals themselves. I personally had many dreams in the past, and I must admit that just a few of them remained and I was able to turn them into achievable goals. Some just remained dreams, dreams that are now almost forgotten and a part of the fading memory of a child that I once was. For example, for the longest time ever as a kid I dreamed of becoming a lawyer. You know, a very badass lawyer. As I grew older that dream was replaced by the dream of becoming an actor (and possibly play a lawyer, that'd be hardcore), which then turned into the dream of becoming a fashion stylist, later on replaced by graphic designer. It's a lasting process, really. I went from lawyer to graphic designer, it almost doesn't make sense, right? And right there in the midst of it all, I wanted to become a writer. Right now, I'm working on this blog that features some of those dreams, which are those of becoming a writer, stylist and graphic designer. This combines those dreams perfectly. The acting part comes in handy sometimes in real life, and I was lucky enough to get some experiences in acting on stage and being in a short film. What I'm trying to say is that dreams can evolve, they can change and those that remain are the ones that you have to start working on, you have to begin chasing them as best as you possibly can.
The picture you see above is from an Etsy shop, and I desperately want to get my hands on that print. Why? Just because there comes a time when I simply forget that I can't stop chasing my dreams because of my fears. For example, I always wanted to move to the UK, mostly London although the renting prices in London are sky high (talking from experiences here) which led me to adapt that dream and settle on moving to Brighton, which is still closer to London than I am at the moment. But before my first move to London I was petrified, as it was the first time that I wouldn't live in the comforts of my own home, in the shelter provided by my mother and I would have to take care of myself, all by myself. I was lucky enough and a friend of a friend was moving at the about same time, and we decided to join forces, to make it easier on both of us. What scares me of my next big move is that I won't have that same luck, as she is now back home as well and currently planning on staying here. And moving in a different country all on your own is incredibly terrifying! But I can't let my fears get in the way of my dreams, my goals.

There are a few things that I learned are very beneficial when it comes to chasing your dreams down. This list perhaps won't apply to you, perhaps just some bits and pieces will, yet it can't hurt to share, right?
1. SUPPORT. I'm lucky enough to have the best support group ever. My friends and my mother could not be more supportive, as they encourage me in everything, from starting this blog to bigger things like moving away. However, sometimes that great support group also means that you have something to leave behind if your dream is to move away. But I know that no matter where I live, they will always be here for me when I need them and just a click of a button away. And luckily flights from here to London are relatively cheap.
2. PATIENCE. Sometimes this is even more important than a good support group. Without patience you will probably give up before you even properly start chasing your dreams. There are just some things that can't be rushed, that just simply can't happen overnight and it takes a long time and a lot of work to be able to reach them. Remember to just take it one day at the time, don't let your present be neglected because of your future, as the latter depends on the other.
3. PERSISTENCE. Not only do you have to be patient, but also persistent. On the way to your dreams or goals, you will stumble upon failures. Like when I tried to move to London only to end up back home where I started. However, if that wouldn't have happened I would not be at college right now, which I learned is an enormous step towards reaching my goals. And just because my first move was not a success I won't stop trying, in fact I will only try harder until I get there.
4. POSITIVITY. Here comes the third P — Positivity. Don't let the failures bring you down, don't let the distance from your goals bring you down. Keep telling yourself that one day you will get there, and work hard to do so, and I promise you that it will happen.
The triple P's are up to you and if you have that super support group to back you up, you're almost there, trust me.
This concludes this week's Sunday Vanity, hopefully some of you found this useful, although I reckon it might have been tackled before, yet this is from my point of view, my experiences and I'm pretty certain that being reminded to chase your dreams can never hurt, right? I hope you all had a great weekend and I promise you'll see more of me in the upcoming week, perhaps even more than you'd want to and there might be a surprise coming as well, though you will be kept informed of that in the days to come (hint: my face might make an appearance if all goes as planned).
Tell me your dreams that were left in the past and your dreams that you turned into goals. How do you keep moving towards reaching them? And hopefully you forgive me for the lack of posts.

I love this post. I especially agree with being persistent. Giving up on your dreams is so easy nowadays when they don't seem to be going right. But all those set backs are just life lessons which help you get to where you need to be. And like you say, one set back lead you to get into college which is right where you need to be to reach your goals.
