Review: Dior Homme Dermo System Micro-Purifying Cleanser Gel
So today I decided to spice things up a bit and bring out a review on this bad boy up there. I spend quite a lot of time and truth be told money on my skin. I think my proper skincare obsession started about a year or so ago, and it has just developed massively in time. I started reading more beauty blogs that posted a lot of skincare reviews, got myself educated on beneficial ingredients and what to avoid. And let me tell you that generally I would avoid anything with beads in it, however I decided to give this a fair ol' try as it did say it contains micro-particles.
"This transparent gel is formulated with very light exfoliating micro-particles to deep-cleanse, stimulate cellular renewal and clarify the skin. The skin appears instantaneously younger, the complexion is brighter and more uniform."
Let me just say that I don't regret giving it the Dior Homme Dermo System Micro-Purifying Cleanser Gel (£29.00) a go one little bit! I do hate them for giving the product such a long name — because why?? This thing honestly does exactly what it says in the description. I find my complexion does appear brighter after the very few uses and it only goes up from there. I couldn't possibly say anything on making my skin look younger as I already look about 5 years younger than I really am, so I couldn't possibly go even lower! But I do see my skin reacting amazingly to this cleanser, and even though I was worried it would be stripping as it does foam the slightest in contact with water, it actually leaves my skin feeling very smooth and nourished.
You do need to apply it to a wet face, as I did try applying it on dry face and because the texture is very thick in consistency it doesn't glide nicely without some water. Generally I prefer applying my cleanser to dry skin and then removing it with a warm flannel, however this just won't work with this particular cleanser, so I do dampen my skin just the slightest before applying (sorry Caroline, I tried the dry face first, didn't work). I massage it in for a solid few minutes, just to really exfoliate my skin before then removing it with water or a flannel if I feel like exfoliating even further. However, never over exfoliate, as it won't end well!
INGREDIENTS: Aqua (Water), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Acrylates Copolymer, Glycerin, Ceteareth-60 Myristyl Glycol, Glyceryl Laurate, Nylon-11, Peg-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Pentylene Glycol, Tromethamine, Polyethylene, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, PPG-26-Buteth-26, Sodium Chloride, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Parfum (Fragrance), Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Tocopheryl Phosphate, Sodium Citrate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Arachnoidea Root Extract, SIlica, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Butyl-Phenyl Methylpropionat
I would just note that I know using SLS is not considered good for you skin, and I generally avoid it. However I didn't find it irritating in this particular cleanser, and normally I do. I don't think it foams that much, however if you prefer your skincare to be completely SLS free, then avoid this by any cost, as you can see it's high on the ingredients list. For me it's just very important how well my skin goes on with it, and so far so good, and I have been using it for over two weeks now. I would follow this stage up by applying an oil based cleanser on most days, just because there might be some residue left.
Just a last bit of a disclaimer: I don't think of myself as a specialist in the field at all, this is just my opinion and if it makes you give the cleanser a try then good, but check out the ingredients list first and remember that every skin is different. What works for me, may not work well for you, and vice versa. I would also like to point out that my skin is normal to combination (oilier T-Zone and all that), just for reference.
Hope you enjoyed this post even though it's a bit different from my usual content, but you can expect a bit more skincare posts in the future, as it's a daily part of my life.
What is your favourite cleanser at the moment?
