#selflovemonday // reflecting about the future

Every now and then I start thinking about what the future has in store for me. I think it's safe to assume we all do, don't we? The worst thing, however, is feeling like you're stuck at the same point and the future seems so far away. It generally isn't, the future is in an hour, the future is tomorrow, but the future we dream of can be years away. A while ago I made the inspirational print above, it was meant to be the first print for my Etsy shop, but today I needed a good pick me up, something to tell me to suck it up and own it! That's what Nicki Minaj's songs usually do for me, even though most people would classify her music as trash (usual reference being Stupid Hoe), I find that most of her lyrics though can be very motivational, like a kick in the ass, telling you that you are the best.
The point about this post isn't Nicki Minaj or her music career for that matter, I just tend to get sidelined a lot in my writing, hope you all don't mind. Especially in the #selflovemonday series, which is all about me, and you, it's about all of us that try our bestest to be independent people, businessman and businesswomen. It's for all of us that wake up, look in the mirror and say: today the world is mine, I am going to do my shit and I'm going to do it best. This is what #selflovemonday is all about.
My friend graduated from two majors, and even though we're the same age, I feel like in comparison I accomplished nothing. I couldn't be more proud of her, and she worked hard for it, I just need to remind myself to put more work into both my studies and my future career. I think for me seeing other people succeed is a huge motivation, especially people close around me, and I love surrounding myself with people that work hard, as that will eventually result in me giving it my best as well. There is nothing worse than being around people who do nothing, and aspire to nothing, as the negative energy can easily be transferred to you as well. Always surround yourself with people that will motivate you, inspire you, and people with whom you'll grow, not people who will bring you down. So a special thank you and congratulations to Ana Ina (and I promise to stop using both your names eventually), she is one of the hardest working people I know.
Today I feel incredibly proud of my friend, but I also feel motivated to work harder, to push my limits and grow as a person, personally and career wise. We often neglect the importance of people we surround ourselves with on the day-to-day basis. We often try to make an old friendship work even though the person is constantly bringing us down. I don't know why, but I know I have had my share of friends who never brought me anything good in life. Perhaps never is an overstatement, but their energy didn't pull me forwards but backwards, at least at that point. And that is when you know that you have to cut that rope, say goodbye to the good memories and make room for other people who will come into your life. People that will be better friends, supporters and motivators. We are past the age when friendship was all about just fun and games, because now we need friends that will constantly teach us new lessons, friends that will make us grow and in return they would grow with us as well. Friendship suddenly turned into much more, and it holds much more depth than it did in our teenage years.
My goals for the future are nothing big, or perhaps sometimes too big, there is no in between. I want to be successful in my field of expertise, I want to surround myself with positive and hard working people, I want to move somewhere new where I could start off my adult life. And perhaps I want a relationship that will last, and a cute little puppy to match. I know those are all things that I will have to work for, and my career is a learning process through out and through in, but truthfully I wouldn't have it any other way. It is something that I love, and therefore something that I will continue to work hard for, or well work even harder for. Life is a big lesson, and the future holds more lessons, more growth, and new experiences. The future is not so bad, is it? We just have to embrace both the positives and the negatives that it holds in store.
WE ARE ALL BOSS ASS BITCHES. WE ARE HARD WORKERS AND WE ARE THE BEST.
Do you have a special quote that motivates you when you feel stuck?

  1. You make a very good point. It's very important to also motivate and not only be motivated, otherwise you're just feeding off of other people's positive vibes. Give and receive, something along those lines.
I think most people don't bother watching/reading her interviews, as they would see that she's a very inspiring businesswoman and every time they diss her, they double her salary. Plus, the woman can rap her ass off, and is also very no bullshit allowed, which I always respect.
Thank you for this lovely comment, dear. x
